IMG, Kozhikode made a visit to Streechetana on 23rd January 2016, as part of their 12 days training program in order to create social responsibility and personal values among the beginners of Government Servants. The main objective of the visit was to study the role of NGOs in bridging the gap between Government and Public. The study also aimed at understanding the importance of NGO in the community, how they emerge as a pressure group, where they identify the failure of the government in satisfying the needs of the people and act where their help is needed.
A team of thirty four trainees visited the office of Streechetana at Eranhipalam. The Study was on the topic “NGO, Why as a Parallel”. The meeting started with a prayer and the welcome address was given by Smt. A. R. Supriya. Mr. Sadique, Associate Fellow, IMG gave a brief explanation of the purpose of their visit. Dr. K. S. Jayasree, the General Secretary explained the services provided by Streechetana in the society.
The officer bearers, members and the beneficiaries of Streechetana participated in the Program. The team divided themselves into groups and made interaction with the beneficiaries to understand in detail, the activities carried out by Streechetana.
Through the visit, they could understand that an NGO is formed where the government fails to satisfy the needs of the people and as a result of total negligence from the authorities and public representatives. The NGO plays a vital role in the society and it reminds them their responsibilities and duties and the visit made them realize that the public servants need to make a change in their vision so as to bring a change in the society.
